LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 22, 2007) − The University of Kentucky Art Museum is welcoming "Art in Bloom 2007" this week to the Bluegrass. The four-day event, currently in its seventh year, is the museum's premier fundraiser presented by the Friends of the UK Art Museum. The event, showcasing 40 floral designers from the community and their interpretations of works from the museum's permanent collection and the new exhibition, "Bound for Glory: America in Color," runs Feb. 22 to 25.

"Art in Bloom" uses flowers, plants and natural elements to create enchanting combinations of art and nature literally transforming the museum. The public is welcome to view the floral arrangements for free from noon to 5 p.m. Feb. 22, 24, and 25 and from noon to 8 p.m. Feb. 23. This year's "Art in Bloom" exhibition will honor Hilary J. Boone, a patron of the arts, and local artist, Judy Rhea Wells.

"Art in Bloom" festivities include a champagne reception and silent auction at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24. This event will feature the art-inspired floral designs in full bloom, live music and heavy hors d'oeuvres. Tickets for the champagne reception are $85 per person, $150 per patron and $60 for the under-40 crowd. Valet parking will be available at the Rose Street entrance of the Singletary Center for the Arts. This event is hosted by Friends of the UK Art Museum.
