LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 15, 2007) -- The University of Kentucky is one of a select
group of institutions in a unique project by ABC News to create what may be the most extensive
source of online video information about breast cancer.
Dr. Patrick McGrath, director of the UK HealthCare Markey Comprehensive Breast Care Center, is featured as one of the leading experts in breast cancer from 41 top rated cancer centers and 65 leaders in cancer research. In this expansive project, On Call Plus, ABC has compiled questions and over 350 video answers for breast cancer patients and those touched by their diagnosis.
ABC News Medical Editor Dr. Tim Johnson notes that the site was constructed to give people the chance to see and hear what the top people in the field have to say about very specific questions. Patients from across the U.S.— including local patients at the Markey Cancer Center, were able to submit questions and receive personalized answers regarding screening and diagnosis, risk and prevention, treatment, and living with breast cancer. The site was launched this month in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
McGrath can be seen online by clicking on the University of Kentucky link on the main ABC News On Call Plus page. He describes advances in breast cancer research, diagnosis and treatment at UK.
