Bhattacharyya Wins Gerhold Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 24, 2009) − University of Kentucky chemical engineering professor Dibakar Bhattacharyya has been named the 2009 winner of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers' Clarence "Larry" G. Gerhold Award.

The award, presented annually, recognizes an individual's outstanding contributions in research, development or application of chemical separations technology.

Bhattacharyya will be presented with the award, which includes a $3,000 prize, at the Separations Division Dinner at the institute's annual meeting in November in Nashville.

Bhattacharyya, who serves as director of graduate studies in the UK College of Engineering's Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, is widely recognized for his extensive research on membrane separation.
