Venous Health Week. The screenings will be noon to 5 p.m. at the Vein Clinic at the UK

Deadly blood clots kill approximately 200,000 Americans every year. Other vein problems, such as varicose veins and diseased veins, cause chronic leg swelling and ulcers in half a million Americans.
A simple, non-invasive exam and ultrasound screening of the legs can be performed to check for blockages and proper blood flow in the legs. The process takes only 15-20 minutes. Those who are screened will receive a “venous report card” to share with their physicians.
UK HealthCare is one of more than 100 vascular centers participating in this unique screening program this year. Sponsored by the American Venous Forum, the screening is an early detection program dedicated to improved vascular health.
