LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 21, 2009) – As a youngster in small-town Kansas, Braden Lusk developed a fascination with firecrackers and fireworks, unleashing their power on unfortunate inanimate objects.

Today, the University of Kentucky mining engineering assistant professor is one of the hosts of “The Detonators,” a weekly Discovery Channel program that explains how demolition experts use precision explosions to implode buildings.

Lusk and other experts like Paul Worsey of the Missouri University of Science and Technology tour sites around the world where demolition crews take down bridges, towers and buildings using explosives.

The first episode airs at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, and is repeated at midnight Thursday, Jan. 29, and 11 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, on the Discovery Channel.  New episodes will be shown on subsequent Wednesdays.
