LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 12, 2006) − Debra K. Moser is the recipient of the 2006 Katharine A. Lembright Award from the American Heart Association Council on Cardiovascular Nursing. The award acknowledges her contribution and achievements in the field of cardiovascular nursing research.  Moser is a professor and Linda C. Gill Chair in the University of Kentucky College of Nursing.

The award will be presented Nov. 14 at the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions 2006 in Chicago. Moser will receive $2,000 and a plaque.  During the conference, Moser will present an invited lecture, "The Thin Stream of Fear Trickling Through the Mind: Impact of Anxiety in Cardiac Patients."

Moser is the author of more than 135 data-based publications and currently has more than $9 million in research funding as principal investigator or co-investigator from the National Institutes of Health. Her particular area of interest is improving outcomes in patients with heart failure using biobehaviioral interventions.

The Lembright award was established in 1987 in honor of Katharine A. Lembright, an AHA staff member who played a significant role in the development and growth of the council. It is intended to recognize and encourage excellence in research of cardiovascular disease to nurse scientists.
